1-Fit:
I'm 6'-1" at 185lbs. Usually a size 44 so that is what i ordered. Arm length is perfect. With the elasticized leather from the armpit to waist, the jacket will expand or contract some for you waistline. As another review mentioned, I too wish it were an inch longer in the torso. Two inches would even be better.
Armor:
Shoulders and elbows are good. Back is just thin foam. I have a backpack 95% of the time, otherwise I would upgrade. The leather is thick and would hold up well in a slide, yet it is finished well and soft to the touch.
Comfort:
Ribbing on shoulders allows for a great range of arm movement. Comfortable in both warm and chilly riding temps. Below 45deg out and I will likely switch to my textile. Haven't been in temps above 80deg, but at 80, with the vents all open, i was comfortable as long as I wasn't stuck at a long red light.
Dampness from fog or very light rain had beaded off. Not planning to test heavy rain.
Pockets:
Darn near perfect.
The "hand warming" pockets on the outside are small. I keep meter change in one and a bridge toll reader in the other. Empty, you can just fit your fist in. But, they are small to accommodate the giant full chest pockets. Pens, keys, tire gauge, etc. They are each 12" deep and 6" wide.
Inside the jacket, on each side, is a small elastic dump pocket. There is also one vertical zip pocket on the inside left chest.
Style:
A nice blend of classic and modern. My favorite thing about this jacket, and the main reason I bought it, is the lack of advertising. Not a single name or logo can be found on the outside of this jacket. Who wants to pay more to be a rolling billboard?
It is now my go to jacket for all but two scenarios. Rain and road trips.
2-I ride everywhere. One day I may be dressing formally, sometimes I'm in the rain, sometimes in the searing sun. I carry everything I need to survive on my person or on my bike. I need a jacket that is durable, flexible and stylish enough to meet these needs. This jacket fits the bill. This is my review after over a year of daily use.
I always needed a jacket with heavy leather, lots of pockets, and no garish logos emblazoned over every last inch. Something you can wear to the girlfriend's parents place for dinner that doesn't look like you just came from a Moto GP race. Something you go from dinner to the track and not feel under protected.
I had a chance to try a size 40 before buying. Revzilla was out of stock, so I found another retailer selling the jacket for cheaper, so I called up Revzilla and, awesome as always, they matched the price.
The jacket is quite heavy but the pockets allow plenty of ventilation. It has oodles or pockets; I carry a dozen keys, couple sets of ear buds, bags for shopping, eye drops, scarf, pain relief spray, knife and other tools and it all fits comfortably.
The armor is decent on the shoulders and elbows, but the back protector is a joke. Toss that junk out and get the Klim D30 insert. Requires some cutting to fit but offers far better protection.
After a year the zipper teeth started to disintegrate. I contacted River Road customer service and they offered to replace it at no cost. Having worn the jacket in, I was attached to it, so they agreed to take it in and repair the zippers with better ones at no charge. So 1+ for their customer service too.
3-Sleeve cuffs are a little large. Can take jacket on and off with out up zipping sleeve. When adjust to second snap clip it is bunched up.
4-Overall I love this jacket and all its features, and expect it will offer many more years of heavy use, at which time I hope it is still in stock so I can get another of the same.
5-I ordered this jacket in a size 44 per the Geeks recommendation. Im 5'10" 190, 45 in chest, 33 pant size , athletic build. It was so tight I could not bend my arms to put on my helmet. After removing all of the liners and armor (which is thick and chunky feeling) It fit nice. I cant imagine riding this in the summer... it is crazy heavy and would be terribly hot. The perf is hardly noticeable and would do next to nothing. The styling is great however and I really dug the right breast pocket. Great jacket for the Nords.
